We’ve got some exciting news to share: makepositive have committed to the Pledge 1% movement!
Pledge 1% is a corporate philanthropy movement dedicated to making the community a key stakeholder in every business. Spearheaded by Atlassian, Rally, Salesforce and Tides, we’re excited to be part of this movement towards a more responsible approach to business and corporate philanthropy. Companies signing up to Pledge 1% commit to dedicate 1% of equity, product, and employee time for their communities.
Like the other members of Pledge 1%, we understand that no company operates in a vacuum and that every community has a vested interest in how the companies working within it behave. We understand that now, more than ever, the world is globally intertwined – economically, politically, culturally, and beyond. And that the world is currently facing some incredibly difficult challenges, with complicated causes and wide-reaching effects.
Here at makepositive, we obviously don’t purport to have all the solutions. But we know that both as a business and as individuals within it, we can play a part. Through Pledge 1%, we commit to support the organisations in our community who are on the ground, working to solve these big challenges day in and day out. One way we can do that is by providing them with better, more integrated systems, through cloud-based solutions like Salesforce. Better systems give organisations the ability to save time and effort, make better decisions, and keep track of the impact they’re making. Cloud-based systems also reduce reliance on paper files and increase an organisation’s ability to work remotely – two key wins for the environment.
Corporate philanthropy isn’t new at makepositive – we’ve been involved in corporate philanthropy efforts for several years and many team members already support various causes on a personal level. We offer employees 3 days per year for volunteering, either individually or through makepositive. We currently offer our services to the third sector either pro bono or at affordable rates that respect the competing priorities of their organisations and their donors’ funds. In order to make this support fair and clear for everybody, we plan to launch a structured programme of tiered support by October this year. Joining Pledge 1% is helping us to formalize our approach and make clearer the benefits that we can offer our broader community.
We hope you’ll join us in supporting the Pledge 1% movement and all that it represents. We look forward to sharing more details of how we’re pledging 1%, the activities we’ve been up to, and how our pledge is benefitting our community.
