Newly promoted Simon Robins talks about his journey to promotion at makepositive, & what he's looking forward to about his new role.

Congratulations on your recent promotion! What is your new job title?
Thank you, my new title is People & Culture Lead, and I am now at Managing Grade.
How did you find the promotion process at makepositive?
I found it pretty straight forward, but part of my job is to advice and mentor our line managers on how to use the grade structures – so I should know it well by now!
What are you looking forward to learning and developing in your new role?
My new role is really exciting, I will now be responsible for all HR within makepositive (across all of our locations) which is a big step up. I am most looking forward to taking on the more challenging Employee Relation cases and working with the senior managers to influence the internal culture.
What’s the best thing about working at makepositive?
The people. I am so lucky to work with an amazing bunch of people who are all great at what they do. The culture is also fantastic here, makepositive really goes the extra mile to look after their staff. There is nothing better than having a beer with your mates at 4pm on a Friday over a game of table tennis (I just wish I was better at playing).
What tips would you give to someone who wants to develop a career in Salesforce?
Salesforce is a fantastic and exciting field to get into. It is growing at a steady rate, but there are nowhere near enough consultants trained. As with any career change, it will take hard work and dedication to up-skill with what is required, but in return, you will have a job for life. There is also a lot of areas within Salesforce, which you can focus on to become a specialist. We are really passionate about learning at makepositive and we cover the cost of any Salesforce certificates or exams for our staff, it doesn’t matter how much experience you have, there is always more to learn.
