A day in the life of an…Insurance Account Executive

Our Insurance Account Executive Ben Granger-Holcombe talks through the best and most challenging parts of his role

Describe your role at makepositive

I’m an Account Executive looking after the Insurance vertical, which involves working with our partners (Sabio and Salesforce) to work with both new and existing customers.

The Insurance industry is in an interesting chapter and at makepositive we are very well positioned to advise and assist organisations on how to transform and meet their strategic business objectives. It is my role to introduce makepositive’s capabilities to the decision makers of these businesses, understand their challenges and bring the right mix of experts from our team into the conversation to help bring about the relevant change.

What does a typical work day look like for you?

A mixture of internal and external meetings – engaging with Salesforce and the relevant Account Executives is a big part of my day. A strong relationship with Salesforce is key to our success, so ensuring they know our offerings and our go to market strategy is paramount. I also spend a lot of time looking for work out in the Insurance market, connecting with the key decision makers in Insurance organisations so that they know who makepositive are and the value we can bring to their business.

What is the most challenging part of your role?

The most challenging part of my role is getting in front of the right people. There’s a huge opportunity for makepositive to make an impact in the Insurance industry, but we aren’t currently known specifically within the sector. So a huge part of my role is building our credibility and our name within the Insurance market, which will be fairly challenging.

What is the most rewarding part of your role?

The most rewarding thing for a salesperson is to not just sell a solution, but to have a project that you’ve helped identify and develop being delivered and the customer seeing value in it. Working with such a talented team at makepositive is also very rewarding as I’m learning from everyone.

What skills are the most important to perform well in this job?

The ability to listen to the customer, what they need and then qualifying that opportunity, as well as having tenacity. You can’t give up or fall at the first hurdle.

What’s your favourite thing about working at makepositive?

The all-inclusive culture. Everyone is eager to help one another out and enjoys what they do. The team is so friendly and approachable and that makes collaborating together so much easier and more relaxed.
