Salesforce Einstein Analytics: the key to funding for the not-for-profit sector

OnSide’s vision is to provide every town and city in the UK with quality, safe and affordable facilities that allow young people to spend their leisure time engaging in fun but productive activities, supported by positive adult role models, which improve their life chances, choices and opportunities.

The challenge

As a registered charity, OnSide must be able to effectively report on the positive impact that attendance at its Youth Zones have on young people’s lives in order to secure ongoing funding. Although standard Salesforce reporting met many of OnSide’s reporting needs, it was unable to deliver on the more complex analysis that was required. Previously the data had to be extracted into Excel to carry out the analysis and produce the charts, which was a time-consuming and manual process.

The solution

Having understood the reporting requirements, makepositive put forward two different solutions to OnSide – a fully customised solution and a configured Salesforce Einstein Analytics solution. It was decided that the Salesforce Einstein Analytics solution would be the most efficient option to meet the requirements.

The Youth Zones deliver a number of projects, individually and across the network, targeted at improving key aspects of a young person’s life across five key areas: Confidence, Social Skills, Emotional Skills, Health and Aspirations. A Youth Worker will assess the young person against a number of indicators at various points throughout the project. OnSide wanted the ability to display the changes in behaviours over time in the form of radar charts.

makepositive built a number of Analytics dashboards to show member progression across the 5 key areas over time. The flexible nature of the Salesforce Einstein Analytics solution allows OnSide to filter the dashboards for a particular member, youth zone, project or any other piece of data held against any of the above data objects.

Further dashboards were created, allowing OnSide to report on progression in a similar way against individual questions posed to the members.

The results

OnSide is now able to report on the data and produce the radar chart visuals at the click of the button, saving time, giving a real-time view of the data and removing scope for manual error.

Users are able to copy and tweak the dashboards to filter data as required based on current needs.

Salesforce Einstein Analytics functionality has extended the reporting capabilities allowing OnSide to report on more complex data sets.
